Inspired by our founder, John's, legacy of always improving, Creatures is dedicated to shaping the future of reliable surf equipment. Our products are crafted for all types of surfers, from the beginner to the advanced, designed for comfort, longevity, and ease of use.

In 1974, John Malloy landed in Yallingup, WA with nothing more than a surfboard and a backpack. He discovered the raw waves of the Indian Ocean were the perfect testing grounds to create an unbreakable legacy, one that would revolutionize surf hardware through pioneering innovation.

John introduced the first-ever urethane cord, providing the most reliable connection from board to surfer yet. He became obsessed with improving other solutions, inventing a self-lubricating stainless steel swivel as well. These pioneering innovations remain the industry standard today.

Located on Western Australia's wave-rich South West coast, Yallingup and its surroundings have been the breeding ground to some of the world's top leading surfers. The powerful waves of the Indian Ocean make it the perfect place to test surf hardware. We could have moved somewhere more centralized to make travel easier, but that's all part of the fun. Most surfers get that right away. After all, we're a different breed. We're Creatures.

To earn a living, John began making surf leashes. He learned the hard way that the raw waves of the South Indian Ocean would snap inferior materials. Good wasn't good enough. They had to be better. That same focus on rugged reliability and premium detail has since been expanded to other surf essentials. Board covers, traction, tie-downs, and more... it's all geared toward a lifetime of discovery.

Creatures was started to support the surfing lifestyle and shaped by the coast we call home. Driven by adventure, our founder John Malloy left Los Angeles in 1972 on a container ship to surf through the Pacific to West Oz. When he arrived in Yallingup, he realized he'd found paradise. Uncrowded waves, stunning coastline, great friends.
